Our Extended Reading Programme provides library books to schools in all our African languages and encourages every learner (grade 1 to Grade 12) to read in his/her own language. We also facilitate the delivery of Nal'iBali bilingual supplements in English plus nine other languages, to classrooms on the programme. Through our Read & Review competition, learners get the chance to win their own books in their own languages. To be eligible they must read at least five stories or articles in an African language in the term, choose their favourite item and present a review of it to their class and both their language teacher and the HLP’s language specialist. The review period becomes an enjoyable language lesson for the whole class, even when the presentations are in languages unfamiliar to some. If you would like to sponsor a prize bearing your name or the name of your organization, please just indicate this in your e-mail when you make the donation and expect your message to be confirmed (or send query to mbl.teaching@gmail.com) |
